Hi, what's the easiest way to export md5mesh/anim files from C4D?

As far as I know, there is no md5 plugin for C4D, but there are several for 3DS MAX. Unfortunately the bones seem to get lost when exporting to .3ds. Is there a way to transfer a model completely with all bones to 3DS?

In case that this should not work, which of the exported file formats contain bone information?

Thanks!

MD5 is used by Doom III and Quake IV. We used that format for our engine, because that was the fastest way to get started.

In the mean time I found out that the FBX format can be used to exchange models with bones with 3DS MAX. Unfortunately no bone animation seems to be exported with FBX 6 (can easily be seen by reimporting the FBX file into C4D). Am I doing something wrong? "Export Animations" is activated in the options.

Ah. For C4D FBX, you'll need to use FBX 5. There is a converter available for this from Alias (which is probably at AutoDesk nowadays). More information about this might be available at Maxon's main site.

FBX 5 didn't help unfortunately. But we've tried it with another model and now it works. Don't know what the problem was, but everything works fine now with the other file. I had my doubts if this multiple step conversion (C4D -> .fbx -> 3DS MAX -> MD5Plugin -> .md5) would actually work, but it does!

Thanks for your help!
