    How about the particle emitter? The fact that it knows if it's rendered or in the editor is one major feature. There could be many other plugins (or perhaps "tag" is the proper name) that would benefit from it. Isn't there some way of determining?

    I'm more interested to in what way the info is passed to the rendering engine and how it is evaluated. AFAIK, the chapter deals only with the drawing pipeline?
